Two years ago, we opened the doors of Nelson Skin Doctors with a simple but powerful mission: to provide expert-level skin cancer care in a way that is warm, welcoming, and puts our patients first.  This month, we're thrilled to be celebrating our second anniversary — and what a journey it has been!
From our very first appointments to the hundreds of skin checks we've now completed, every single patient who has walked through our doors has been part of this story.  Nelson and the wider Tasman region deserves world-class skin cancer care, and we are so proud to be delivering exactly that right here in our community.
As New Zealand's skin cancer and melanoma rates remain among the highest in the world — and with Nelson vying for the crown as the Sunshine Capital — the work we do matters.  Early detection saves lives, and every skin check is a step towards better outcomes for our patients and their whānau.
Year two has been full of growth, learning, and plenty of memorable moments as a team.  We've loved getting to know our patients, and we're grateful every day for the trust you place in us to look after your skin health.

We had a wonderful evening at the recent Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, entering in the Start-up Business category alongside some impressive competition.
Being part of the awards process gave us a fantastic opportunity to pause and reflect on everything we've achieved over the first two years of our business journey — and there was plenty to be proud of.
The winner of our category was our neighbours, Clean Break, Nelson's first specialist relationship property law firm.  Congratulations to the whole Clean Break team!  Speaking with them on the night, we were struck by how much common ground we share.  Both of our businesses provide a service that nobody ever wants to need — in our case, skin cancer management, and in theirs, legal support through separation and divorce.  Yet both teams are driven by the same vision: to deliver that service in a way that puts people first, with kindness, professionalism, and as little stress as possible.  It was a genuinely inspiring conversation, and it has motivated us to keep pushing forward on our own mission to provide expert-level skin cancer care in a warm and welcoming environment.
We had a fantastic night celebrating as a team, and we're already looking forward to entering again in the future.
