Happy New Year! - A message from the Team.

Season's Greetings from Nelson Skin Doctors!  
As the holiday season is upon us, we at Nelson Skin Doctors want to extend our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. From our opening in March, 2024 has been a huge year and we are really appreciative of all the support and positive feedback we have received.  This year has been filled with growth, achievements, and wonderful moments, and we are excited to share some highlights with you.
A Year in Review  
2024 has been an incredible year for us. Here are some of the milestones we are proud to share:

• Accreditation: We are proud of our very high standards and it was great to have our efforts acknowledged by the team at BSI as they independently audited our facility and protocols and certified our practice according to national standards.  This is a significant step on our journey towards affiliated provider status with major insurers such as Southern Cross.
• Community Education: Our doctors have delivered numerous educational seminars and published a series of articles, spreading awareness about skin cancer prevention, early detection and treatment (see the News section of our website to read more).
• Cancers Treated: We have successfully treated hundreds of skin cancers since opening.    We are grateful for the trust you place in us. Every skin cancer we pick up and treat reminds us of why we do what we do and we are proud to be making a difference in our community.  

Tips for Summer Skincare  
The weather is heating up and the sun is out!  Here are some tips to keep your skin healthy during the hotter months:

• Protect: Don't forget to apply sunscreen, even on cloudy days (check out our blog on Sunscreen for some more info: https://www.nelsonskindoctors.co.nz/news/skin-cancer-questions-sunscreen-edition).  Remember to seek shade in the middle of the day.
• ​Hydrate: Drink plenty of water and use a good moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated.
• ​Observe: As we shed our warmer clothing layers and see more skin, keep an eye out for new or changing spots on your skin and that of those you love and get them checked!  Early detection of skin cancers, especially melanomas, can save lives. 

​Looking Ahead  
As we look forward to 2025, we are excited about the new opportunities and advancements in skincare that lie ahead. We remain committed to providing you with the highest quality care and the latest technology in skin cancer detection and treatment.  
We look forward to seeing some familiar faces in the coming year.  We'll be in touch if you have a recall and our online booking system is now live on our website so you can also book in for a full skin check anytime!
